Ginataang Alimasag


This recipe is called Ginataang alimasag in the Philippines, it is usually cooked with malunggay  (moringa oleifira), or you can use string beans and squash. Spinach can also be an alternative vegetable that you can add if the other veggies that i mentioned are not available. Lets begin to cook, this is just an easy recipe. But please before you eat crab make sure that you are not allergic to sea foods.

Ingredients:
  • 1 kilo blue crab (cleaned, shell intact)
  • 4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 medium white onions, chopped
  • 1 stalk lemon grass stalk pounded white part only (about 4 cm)
  • 1 knob ginger, cut into thin strips
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • 4 cups coconut milk
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • Bunch of spinach (optional)
Procedures:
  1. In a large pot, sauté the garlic, onion, and ginger
  2. Add the ground black pepper and water then bring to a boil
  3. Add the fish sauce
  4. Put the crabs in the pot and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Add coconut milk, mix and cook until coconut is thick.
  6. Add the spinach and simmer for 5 minutes
  7. Serve hot. Share and Enjoy!
